Half Moon responded to Ramsey Rd for smoke in the house. 500 arrived and found a 1 story wood framed structure with gray/black smoke pushing from both eves/gables. This was an attic fire resulting from a failure of the chimney and flue pipe coming from the wood stove.
There were no injuries and Half Moon as well as other departments spent 5 hours on scene fighting fire and many more that night and the next few days at the station putting trucks back in service and cleaning. Thanks to Pumpkin Center , Rhodestown, Richlands, Piney Green Fire Departments and OCEMS, OCSD, JFD and Red Cross for their cooperation and team work.
